830 jobs could be lost after Waverley TBS, one of the UK’s largest independent distributors of soft and alcoholic drinks, entered administration.
Waverley, which was acquired by Manfield Partners from Heineken in 2010 through holding company Huntingtower Investment Group, operates 18 sites across the UK. Huntingtower Investment Group is also in administration.
Manfield Partners blamed the weak financial position of Waverley and challenging market conditions for the situation.
Administrators Deloitte said that Waverley would continue to trade during the search for a buyer and that several parties had already expressed an interest in the Chesterfield, Derbyshire-based firm.
“The company has a committed workforce and a strong customer network across the UK, supplying to a large proportion of both national and free trade beverage retailers across the country,” said Daniel Butters, Waverley’s co-administrator.
