Arla targets high protein yoghurt market

14 September 2012

Arla has set its sights on the food supplements market with the introduction of two new whey proteins targeted at yoghurt manufacturers.

The proteins, Nutrilac YO-5369 and YO-5088, have respectively been developed for high-protein stirred and drinking yoghurt. Arla said that it expects the new products to be a hit among consumers who are switched on to the benefits of a high protein diet or want to improve their fitness or manage their weight.

“Our message to regular yogurt manufacturers is that they can easily be part of this trend,” said Torben Jensen, Arla's dairy application specialist.

“Using our tailored Nutrilac solutions, they can increase the protein content from the standard 4% to 7-8% and continue to process stirred and drinking yogurt on their existing line. The taste and
texture of the final product will be unchanged.”
