Indian food firm Britannia Industries is targeting growth with the launch of a new range of healthier bakery products in the country.
Britannia will introduce a variety of healthier bakery products across the country including multi-fibre, multi-grain, whole wheat, and honey oats items.
Speaking at the launch of Britannia's northern India launch of a new vitamin-enriched bread, Anuradha Narasimhan, the firm's director for health and wellness said that the $1 billion Indian healthier foods category is perfectly primed for growth: "This segment is growing at about 15% annually.”
"At Britannia, we have taken this nutritious, highly palatable food to the next level by enriching it with goodness of 10 essential vitamins. With the introduction of these breads, we will strengthen our promise of health to our consumers," added Narasimhan of the new bread.
$90.5 million turnover Britannia claims to control 50% of the Indian bread market.
