C-Tech to invest in low-energy baking

28 September 2012

UK innovation consultancy C-Tech will use a £7 million sustainable manufacturing fund partly to invest in low-energy baking systems.

C-Tech and its partners have developed a two-step process for baking which is claimed to reduce energy consumption by up to 20%. The method involves an accelerated conventional baking stage and a novel post-baking cooling step.

70 companies, universities and research bodies will share the funding designed to uncover low-energy manufacturing processes which could be adopted on a commercial scale.
