PepsiCo launches 'fat blocking' cola

12 November 2012

PepsiCo has introduced a new 'fat blocking' cola containing an indigestible form of dextrin fibre in Japan.

Pepsi Special supposedly reduces the absorption of fat from food consumption and helps to reduce cholesterol levels.

The launch of Pepsi Special comes hard-on-the-heels of the success of Kirin Holdings` Mets Cola amongst functional food-savvy Japanese consumers. Mets Cola, which also contains dextrin, has been marketed as the world's first healthy cola.

Pepsi Special goes on sale in Japan from 13 November priced at ¥150 (€1.50).
