Senomyx gets EU approval for flavours

11 October 2012

American flavours company Senomyx has announced that its four initial Savory Flavors and its S2383 flavour ingredient have all received regulatory approval in the European Union (EU).

Senomyx’s four Savory Flavor ingredients may be used to create new savoury flavour blends. S2383 is a flavour ingredient with modifying properties that is said to restore the taste profile in products that have reduced amounts of sucralose. Each of these ingredients was included in the newly published Union List, which identifies flavouring substances that will be considered legal for use in EU countries as of the end of April 2013.

“The approval of Senomyx’s Savory Flavors and S2383 in the European Union opens important new markets for these unique flavor ingredients,” said Kent Snyder, CEO of the company. “The Savory Flavors are very versatile and can be used in a variety of food products including sauces, frozen foods, cooking aids, soups, and snack foods. S2383 is applicable for use in all food and beverage products sweetened with sucralose.”
