Coca Cola 'trying new beverage formulas'Soft beverage giant Coca Cola is trying out new formulations for its products, it has been reported. "The thing that I get excited about is product forms and sensory experiences continuing to change," Mary-Ann Somers, vice president of marketing for Coke's Venturing and Emerging Brands unit told Reuters. "Functionality will continue to evolve, but how it's delivered and how you experience a liquid beverage continues to change." As well as developing new beverages, Coca Cola may expand into snack ranges too, Ms Somers said. This would put the company in even more direct competition with rival PepsiCo, which is responsible for the Pepsi beverage range and well-known brands, including Frito Lay, which is responsible for Walkers products in the UK. Recently, Coca Cola posted strong sales in the second quarter of 2010. The soft beverage manufacturer's sales were boosted, in part, due to its sponsorship of the Fifa World Cup.
