General Mills recognised for good corporate diversityGeneral Mills has been ranked as one of the top 30 firms in DiversityInc's Companies for Diversity list. The leading supplier of convenience foods was ranked 29th - an advance of 18 places on 2009's ranging. This marks the sixth time General Mills has made the list for its commitment to corporate diversity best practices. Kenneth Charles, vice-president for diversity and inclusion at the firm, said it was important to view diversity "as a way of doing business". "In order to thrive in a global marketplace we must appreciate the demographic shifts under way and the importance of the multicultural consumer," he added. DiversityInc's annual list is calculated from a survey measuring four components: chief executive officer commitment, human capital, corporate and organisational communications and supplier diversity. Other convenience food companies which made the top 50 included Coca-Cola at number 17 and Kraft Foods at number 35. Posted by Philippa Atkins ![]() | | ||||||||||||||||||||
