Kellogg's axes Coco Pops productsCereal manufacturer Kellogg's is to discontinue the production of some of its Coco Pops products, reports Marketing magazine. The firm is set to stop manufacturing the Coco Pops Straws and Coco Pops Creations products which are targeted at children. Launched in 2005, the straws, which consist of wafer tubes lined with chocolate, were intended to encourage children to drink their milk. However, the brand has come under fire from those questioning the nutritional value of its products. According to Kellogg's, each serving of Coco Pops contains "at least 25 per of an adult's recommended daily allowance (RDA) of vitamins thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6, folic acid, vitamin B12 and 17 per cent of an adult's RDA of iron and calcium". The discontinuation of the line follows on from an announcement last month that Kellogg's would be reducing the amount of salt in its major cereal brands, including Corn Flakes and Rice Krispies. The Coco Pops range is also due to undergo similar changes in the near future. Posted by Philippa Atkins. ![]() | |||||||||||||||||||||
