Marketing posts in Mars and Unilever 'most sought after'

Marketing jobs in companies including confectionery giant Mars and consumer goods manufacturer are among the most sought after by graduates, new research has found.

Graduates looking to climb the career ladder quickly are most likely to apply to one of these companies, as well as to Procter and Gamble and L'Oreal.

Every media job this year has seen more than 100 graduates applying for it, according to the survey carried out by High Fliers Research.

Compared with two years, the number of applications for graduate jobs has risen by 15 per cent.

Now, there are 270 UK students competing for every graduate job in the consumer goods industry.

Mars does not have specific graduate programmes, but it introduces graduates to all the units in its company, allowing them to grow and develop at their own pace in the international firm.

Unilever has a graduate scheme called the Future Leaders Programme, which allows university leavers to enter into one of the operating companies owned by the consumer goods manufacturer.
