Nestle Malaysia expands product range

The world's largest food manufacturer Nestle has extended its product range in the emerging market of Malaysia.

Maggi Kreatif sauce has been launched in the country recently following market research into the habits of Malaysia consumers. It was designed and produced using technology in nearby Indonesia.

The sauce, which contains onion, chilli, garlic, pepper and soy sauce, has been designed to be incorporated with the range of different cuisines used within the country.

Maggi executive chef Abdul Muluk Rambli, said: "In the Malaysian context, the sauce can be used in masak kicap or masak pedas dishes in Malay cooking, braised or stir-fried dishes in Chinese cooking, and also in Indian cooking."

He added that the sauce was a "niche product".

Rapizah Muhammad Sharif, a senior brand manager for Nestle, explained that the product had performed well in initial consumer testing.

Nestle has been operating in Malaysia since 1912. It now operates seven factories in the country and aims to address local requirements with a range of 300 halal products.
