Research shows pub-goers want healthier beverages05 February 2010New research has revealed that pub-goers want healthier beverages to be made available in bars, reports the Publican. Market research firm Mintel found that eight out of ten people who drink in pubs would like to see more healthy options available, while around 20 per cent of respondents said they believed pubs actively discouraged them from consuming soft drinks. Britvic is one beverage manufacturer which has managed to successfully integrate a soft drinks brand into the pub market. The company's J2O range is the second most popular bottled drink sold in pubs behind Budweiser beer. The Publican said that the results show "licensees have been slow to capitalise on the opportunity soft drinks offer - as drinkers become more health conscious". It reported that juices are expected to do well in the coming months, while the sales of energy drinks are predicted to drop. It was announced at the beginning of February that Britvic experienced year-on-year revenue growth of 11 per cent during the 2009 financial year. Volume growth within the still drinks category grew 3.1 per cent. Posted by Jason Webster. ![]() | |||||||||||||||||||||
