Unilever sells side-dish rangeFood manufacturer Unilever has sold off part of the Shedd's Country Crock range to another US firm. Hormel Foods Corporation has purchased the side-dish product range from Unilever in a transaction which is expected to close early next month. No financial details have yet been released. Under the terms of the deal Hormel will market and sell the Shedd's Country Crock side-dish range under a licence agreement. The line consists of a range of chilled side-dishes, including mashed potatoes and macaroni cheese, which are only available in North America. Michael B Polk, president of Unilever Americas, said the sale was part of the firm's plan to focus on its worldwide growth. "This transaction is consistent with our efforts to reshape our portfolio in North America by sharpening our focus on building strong categories with global reach," he explained. Unilever will retain the Shedd's Spread Country Crock margarine brand, which has been distributed in the US for over 20 years. Posted by Philippa Atkins. ![]() | | ||||||||||||||||||||
