Which? backs FSA calls for smaller portionsConsumer group Which? has backed calls from the Food Standards Agency (FSA) for food manufacturers to reduce portion sizes of their products. The FSA has advised that soft beverages containing added sugar should be available in smaller 250ml sizes, not just standard 330ml cans. Confectionery products, such as chocolate bars, should be offered in smaller single portion sizes. The saturated fat content in plain sweet biscuits, savoury biscuits and plain cakes should be cut by at least ten per cent, according to the new FSA guidelines too. Sue Davies, chief policy adviser for Which?, said that there was a clear demand for smaller portion sizes from food manufacturers. She said consumers want "a wider range of healthier choices" and for it to be made "cheaper to make healthier choices". While healthy eating is a priority for a number of people, she said they were entitled to a helping hand from food manufacturers. Posted by Philippa Atkins ![]() | | ||||||||||||||||||||
