Avena BEST Pea Hull and Oat Hull Fibres

Product description

Avena Foods’ clean label, natural dietary fibres, made from pea hulls and oat hulls, are part of the Avena Best Food Ingredients Range. These RTE (ready to eat) fibers are naturally high in fibre. Grown sustainably and then milled on the Canadian prairies, they are non-GMO and available conventional or certified-organic (COS).

Naturally high in dietary fibre (87 to 90%), these dry-milled ingredients are classified as ‘intrinsic and intact’ by the FDA (US Food and Drug Administration), listed as an ingredient for use in processed meat products by the USDA FSIS, and approved for use in Canada by the Canadian Health Bureau of Nutritional Sciences. In contrast to this, wet-milled pea hull fibre, a byproduct of wet fractionation, is not approved as a dietary fibre by the FDA.

  • Avena BEST Pea Hull Fibre 125 and 200  are 90% total dietary fibre (dry weight basis) and specialty dry-milled from the cleaned outer seed coat or hulls of North American dried peas using a proprietary process.
  • Avena BEST Oat Hull Fibres are 86% total dietary fibre, mainly insoluble therefore low calorie, and are specialty dry-milled from the outer hulls of Canadian Purity Protocol Oats using a proprietary process.
