Cochineal

Product description

Cochineal is produced by drying the female Nopal scale insect which is breed on cacti. The scale insect is separated from the cactus and then dried and cleaned. Origin: Cochineal is mainly produced in South America (Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Mexico) and the Canary Islands. Application: Red dye stuff for beverages and food (especially for meat products), cosmetic products, aperitif / bitters.
