About Magnesium Chloride
MgCl₂ Food (E511) can be used in a wide variety of food and drinks. It is used as coagulant in tofu production, as electrolyte in production of sport drinks, and as flavouring agent. Adding magnesium chloride to food and drinks could make them a source of magnesium and enable lower sodium levels in the products.

Origin
Magnesium chloride from Nedmag is produced out of the mineral bischofite, found in salt layers in the Northern part of the Netherlands.
