Quinoa is naturally gluten-free and comes from South America. The goosefoot belongs to the same family of plants as beet and spinach. Quinoa has served the people of the Andes as a vital staple foodstuff for 5,000 years.

Quinoa is one of the best vegetable protein sources and contains all nine amino acids, vitamins, minerals and nutrients. Red quinoa has a slightly more crunchy structure than white quinoa and a somewhat more savoury flavour. Black quinoa is more challenging to farm and therefore rarer. It has a slightly sweeter taste and a more crunchy structure than white quinoa.
