Starch is a carbohydrate that is obtained from a number of sources such as, potatoes, corn, wheat and cassava. It has multiple possibilities for use in many sectors. A typical property of starch is that it has a low solubility in cold water, but this is improved by increasing the temperature. Because starch granules absorb water, the viscosity rises which makes starch suitable as a thickening agent. Applications: stabilizer or binding agent in a.o. Custard, snacks, noodles, pudding, soups and sauces, anti caking agent in grated cheese, technical applications such as glue, paper and textile, filling- or binding agent in pharmaceutical applications
