Trisodium citrate is the salt of citric acid. It is used as complexing agent, acidifier, acidity regulator and as a melting salt. Unlike citric acid, trisodium citrate has a salty-soapy taste. The main field of application for sodium citrate is an acidity regulator. It keeps the acidity or alkalinity and the desired pH value of a food constant. This ensures a long shelf life. Trisodium citrate prevents or slows down precipitation and hence the formation of sediment in the bottom of the bottle, e.g., in beverages. Sodium citrate is a white to off-white or colorless crystalline powder. It is made from citric acid (E 330). Packaging: 25 kg bags with PE liner. Applications: Sodium citrate is used in jams, marmalades, condensed milk and milk powder, sliced packaged vegetables, fruit and peeled potatoes, canned fruit and vegetables, sweets and desserts, meat products, fats and baking powder, etc. In addition, sodium citrates are used in the preparation of enzymes and in the pharmaceuticals and cosmetics industries. In medicine and in livestock processing, sodium citrate finds application as an anticoagulant.
