Muri will join the company’s board of directors. Muri, who has worked in the Aker group since 2002, will go on to pursue other projects within the Aker group. He will be replaced by Matts Johansen, formerly chief operating officer, who has been with the company for five years.

“I’m extremely grateful for the work Hallvard has done for Aker BioMarine and I’m happy that he will continue to be a part of Aker going forward,” said Kjell Inge Røkke, principal shareholder and Chairman of Aker ASA. “Under Hallvard’s leadership, the company has become a global market leader in the krill-based ingredients sector. With a near 40 per cent annual revenue growth, Aker BioMarine is now a well-run company that has moved past its challenging financial situation.”

“Aker BioMarine has appointed a talented leader with a vision of how to take the company into the future,” Røkke said.

Aker said that Johansen’s mandate will be to continue to develop the Norwegian biotechnology company into a solid and predictable company, in collaboration with its employees, partners, board of directors and owners.
