The global ingredients market is undergoing a clear shift, driven by rising demand for fibre enrichment, sugar reduction, and credible functional benefits across everyday foods and beverages. Manufacturers are increasingly seeking ingredients that deliver multiple formulation advantages at once. Within this context, short-chain fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) have become a strategic solution, combining fibre functionality, mild sweetness, prebiotic activity, and broad application flexibility.

Responding to this accelerating demand, Galam Group has completed the commissioning of an additional GOFOS™ production plant, which is now fully operational. With this expansion, Galam now operates four production sites across three countries, reinforcing its position as a leading global supplier of FOS-based fibres.

GOFOS™ is a multifunctional, three-in-one ingredient that addresses several formulation challenges simultaneously. It supports sugar reduction by providing around 30% of the sweetness of sucrose; it enables fibre enrichment to meet nutritional and labelling targets, and it delivers proven prebiotic benefits by selectively stimulating beneficial gut bacteria. GOFOS™ is available in both powder and liquid formats, and is suitable for a wide range of applications.

A central feature of the expansion is the commercial launch of liquid GOFOS™ with extended shelf life. Liquid sweetening solutions benefit from ease of handling and suitability for high throughput manufacturing in applications such as gummies, bars, bakery, fruit preparations, and other industries. By extending shelf life and ensuring consistent stability, Galam has enabled liquid FOS to be supplied worldwide, supporting both regional and global production models.

Previously, liquid FOS options were often limited by shorter shelf life or regional availability, restricting their use in international supply chains. The new production capabilities address this gap, allowing liquid GOFOS™ to be transported, stored, and applied globally without compromising quality. This opens new opportunities for manufacturers seeking to standardise formulations across markets.

According to Mr Itay Vilder, VP Global Sales at Galam: “Every year we look to move forward. Therefore, Galam is targeting additional natural and health ingredients to expand its portfolio, and is exploring various options, including acquisitions, joint ventures, and the construction of new plants.”
