Lallemand has acquired the shares of Hattiesburg, Mississippi-based USA Yeast.
The company said that USA Yeast brings it a high quality group of employees and a modern well maintained facility. The Hattiesburg location complements Lallemand’s existing plant locations and provides the company with the ability to serve its customers from an improved geographic footprint.The existing USA plant in Hattiesburg will continue to operate. Mike Lavallee, founder of USA Yeast will remain with the company and serve as an advisor to Lallemand in an ongoing role.Lallemand notes that USA Yeast will continue to operate as “USA Yeast” as it bought the shares (i.e. it was not an asset purchase).
