Tradin Organic opens avocado processing facility
8 Oct 2019Tradin Organic has opened Sunvado, its new organic avocado processing facility in Ethiopia.
The Sunvado factory is said to have successfully completed its first test-runs and is now ramping up production. The first products should be ready for export in the coming weeks.

With this new project, Tradin Organic says it will be able to bring organic virgin avocado oil and organic refined avocado oil to the market.
Tradin Organic’s project for organic avocado oil in Ethiopia started in 2018 with the vision to offer smallholder farmers access to the international export market and to boost their income. The processing facility is located in Yirgalem, Southern Ethiopia and the company says it is working with more than 30,000 local organic smallholder farmers.
Throughout 2018 and 2019, Tradin Organic worked together with the local farm cooperatives to set up an organic monitoring system and obtain organic certifications. At the same time, the construction of its organic avocado oil processing line started. By early 2019, the farmer cooperatives obtained the organic certifications and in August 2019 the factory produced its first batches of organic avocado oil.
