Calcium from Seaweed

19 Feb 2025

Calcium from seaweeds - sustainable extraction in sedimentary banks, without affecting the environment. Pure, clean product, with rich and balanced presence of more than 70 minerals. It has the best calcium absorption rate to the human organism.

What are the differences between calcium types for supplementation?

In the body's health, several nutrients act in synergy to maintain its functioning in a balanced way. Currently, to obtain adequate concentrations of some nutrients, supplementation is necessary. We live in a period where the quality of the soil for planting and food production is no longer the same and, due to this impoverishment, the nutritional quality of our food is diminished.

In all cases, people need to be accompanied by medical and/or nutritional professionals to check which nutrients need replacement. When it is necessary, it is important to evaluate which type you will choose.

Who supplements calcium most

Calcium is one of the most used minerals in the population. The age group that consumes most is the adults, filling a percentage of 59.9% of all individuals who use the supplement. We can understand these numbers by understanding that from the age of 40, the loss of the nutrient increases in the bones. It is estimated that one among three women and one among five men over the age of 50 suffer fractures due to the loss and fragility of the skeleton. Worldwide, it is estimated that 200 million people suffer from osteoporosis.

Ingesting the recommended daily amounts of conventional food can be difficult, so replacement is needed not only to alleviate the loss that occurs, but the ideal would be for total bone replacement.

The options of supplementation

There are different types of supplementation of the nutrient, and it is already known that the efficacy increases when it is associated with minerals that help in its balance, such as magnesium, vitamin d, phosphorus, among others.

However, doubts may arise at the time of choice. What would be the best option?

Most of the raw material of calcium is of mineral origin, but there are discussions about its effectiveness, both because they do not prevent the loss of calcium in urine, and because they originate from rocks, and the body was not programmed to consume this type of material.

For this reason, the supplementation of calcium and other minerals such as magnesium, of vegetable origin from the lithothamnion seaweed, is the best option for human consumption, offering significant differentials and benefits compared to other sources of calcium.

Mineral calcium extraction

Besides causing serious problems to the environment, mineral calcium needs to be cleaned and undergo physical and chemical treatment. Its low absorption rate causes problems for human consumption.

Animal calcium extraction / shells

Calcium of animal origin (from shells) contains high levels of heavy metals, and there is no effective health control in its primary processing. The absorption rate is even worse than calcium of mineral origin.
