Courts will be responsible for developing and delivering research and contract work for a wide range of food and drink clients.

Nutrition, health and well-being was identified as a major driver for industry during Campden BRI’s recent consultation on industry needs. The role has been created in response to the growing industry need for advice and consultancy in this area.

Courts will be joining Campden BRI’s Product Innovation Team which comprises food technologists, food scientists and technicians, who work together to support industry with innovative ideas for new product development. They often support companies with reformulation of food for health and current projects include researching new ways to reduce levels of sugar and the development and production of satiating food products using Campden BRI’s extensive pilot plant facilities.

Courts has a PhD in Molecular Nutrition from the University of Leeds and joins Campden BRI from the Institute of Food Research (Norwich) where he was a Research Scientist involved in BBSRC and EU funded projects in the area of nutrition. Prior to IFR he worked at the HONEI institute at Hull York Medical School where he worked and advised on the development of novel diet and health products via primary laboratory and clinical research for global clients.

“We are really excited to have Fraser join our product innovation team,” said Philip Richardson, Head of Food Manufacturing Technologies department at Campden BRI. “His background combining research and developing foods with EFSA health claims will be invaluable as we support companies with new product development and reformulation.”
