Divi’s and Algalif have joined their expertise to develop high quality, sustainable and natural astaxanthin. AstaBead highly concentrated beadlets show excellent performance in innovative applications.

Astaxanthin is a red pigment found in algae, yeast, bacteria and fungi. It belongs to the carotenoid family known as xanthophylls. Astaxanthin is known to be the most powerful antioxidant – hundreds to thousands of times stronger than vitamin E and vitamin C – with potential health benefits supported by a compelling body of scientific studies. Astaxanthin is naturally occurring in foods such as salmon; unfortunately, the levels in our diet are not comparable to dose levels recommended to experience the most beneficial effects, which are related to supplementation.
Algalif and Divi’s Nutraceuticals have joined their expertise to develop highly concentrated beadlets of sustainable natural astaxanthin. Algalif’s processing facilities, located in Iceland, utilise renewable energy and produce highly concentrated premium astaxanthin oleoresin – naturally sourced from microalgae. Divi’s takes advantage of its expertise in fat-soluble ingredient formulation to transform this oleoresin into exclusive, highly concentrated AstaBead beadlets.
AstaBead beadlets contain 5% astaxanthin, the highest concentration of astaxanthin beadlets on the market. The high concentration of astaxanthin in AstaBead beadlets makes it possible to reduce the size of tablets and capsules to meet consumer demand for supplements that are easier to swallow. For applications not requiring such a high concentration, AstaBead beadlets containing 2.5% astaxanthin are also available.
AstaBead beadlets are easy to handle and show excellent performance in a variety of applications. They come in two different beadlet formulations that meet a number of technical challenges:
Based in Iceland, Algalif is a leading supplier of high-grade natural astaxanthin products from microalgae, including ingredients and finished formulations. Their mission is to help meet the nutritional needs of current and future generations through the development and supply of high-quality, sustainable microalgae ingredients. Algalif is committed to providing a reliable supply of high-quality, pure, sustainable astaxanthin from algae. Their indoor production process is designed to deliver high yields of premium astaxanthin using pure Icelandic water and only renewable energy.
