Innovopro's White Paper on Chickpea Protein is Out

30 Oct 2023

Chickpeas are at the center of a growing global  plant proteins trend, boosting the development  of a new category of chickpea ingredients. Due  to its high nutrition profile, great taste and being  non-allergenic, chickpea protein is sparking  interest among the general public as well as food technologists.

Innovopro's chickpea protein has taken center stage in the plant-based protein market, attracting food manufacturers seeking innovative, functional and sustainable added value solutions beyond soy, pea and other traditional protein ingredients, and working on overcoming the taste,  allergenicity and functionality shortcomings of existing alternatives. CP-PRO 70® is the next-generation protein that satisfies consumers' desire for tasty and well-rounded nutrition.

Innovopro's chickpea protein is an innovative ingredient that enables formulating clean-label  products, delivers high-quality plant-based protein without additives, and allows the creation  of great food products, without compromising  taste, texture or appearance.

Innovopro's White Paper on Chickpea Protein is Out
CP-PRO 70® is a natural and exceptional source of concentrated nutrients, which delivers dietary and health benefits to consumers of all ages.

CP-PRO 70® protein concentrate is a completely digestible high quality protein that contains  high levels of selenium, iron, zinc, manganese, potassium, and choline. A serving size of 25g (suitable for meal-replacement solutions) provides over 26% DV (daily value) of protein, over 75% DV  selenium, over 18% DV iron, 12%.
Modern western diets, high in salt (sodium chloride) and low in potassium, have been associated  with high occurrence of hypertension. The prevalence of hypertension in the US has reached 30%  of the population, with hypertension being the major risk factor for stroke and coronary heart  disease1. The estimated potassium-to-sodium intake ratios in industrialized countries range  from 0.12 to 0.63 while in societies with a low  prevalence of hypertension, this ratio is 3.8  to 14.52. It has been proposed that increasing  potassium intake can attenuate the effects of  high-salt diets.

The potassium level in CP-PRO 70® exceeds 2000 mg/ 100 g and is much higher than in  other plant-based proteins and foods generally  recognized  as  rich  in  potassium,  such  as  avocados, bananas, beans, peas, tomatoes and  milk, with 150-550 mg/ 100 g. The high potassium  and low sodium levels in CP-PRO 70®, with the  healthy ratio of 15, is an excellent solution for  supplementing daily potassium intake.
