Mérieux NutriSciences has announced the acquisition of a majority shareholding in traQ’food, a French start-up commercialising a digital application for restaurants and food service to manage their hygiene and sanitary control plan. traQ’food is said to strategically complement Mérieux NutriSciences’ already existing Digital Solutions portfolio.

Founded in 2015, traQ’food markets the traQ'food application that simplifies the daily management of the Sanitary Control Plan for caterers and restaurants. Adapted to any type and size of business the application offers various features such as label traceability, goods inspection or temperature reading sensors allowing notably to digitalize documentation, be compliant with regulation and automate supply management. In 2016, the traQ’food application received a “Blue Ocean Award”, a contest set up to reward French companies creating new markets through their innovative services or products.

Philippe Sans, President and CEO of Mérieux NutriSciences, said: “At Mérieux NutriSciences, our priority has always been providing our customers around the globe with innovative solutions to guarantee consumer protection. With this investment in traQ’food, we are expanding our digital offer to help our clients increase their efficiency by giving meaning to their data. Digital technology significantly transformed our professions and has become a key focus for us.”

“This ideal partnership brings together the technical & scientific know-how of a recognized industry leader in food safety and a start-up provider of software solutions.” said Rudy Hattab, founder of traQ’food.

In a context of globalisation of markets with greater exchanges and increasing agribusiness chains complexity, Mérieux NutriSciences has created a Business Unit dedicated to Digital Solutions. By giving value to data, beyond analytical or audit results, Digital Solutions aims at helping to prevent quality issues and to protect businesses and end-consumers’ health. This unit created in January 2017 develops and implements software and data management solutions supported by the company’s 50 years of scientific expertise in microbiology and chemistry. traQ’food complements the Digital Solutions portfolio already composed of QualMap, EnviroMap and myMXNS.
