Product description

What is Carbon Black?
Carbon black is composed of fine particles consisting mainly of carbon. Various features of carbon black are controlled in production by partially combusting oil or gases. Carbon black is an excellent colouring agent as black pigment, and therefore is widely used for printing inks, resin colouring, paints, and toners.

Why choosing for Carbon Black Free pigments is a more sustainable choice?
Carbon Black is undetectable by the NIR and will end up as landfill. It is thus important to choose for a Carbon Black Free pigment so that the packaging can be detected and recognized by the NIR and be appropriately sorted so it can be used in the recycling stream (see the image).
Although the cost of Carbon Black Free pigments is a few percentage higher than Carbon Black, the benefits of this material do compensate widely the extra investment.

What are the benefits of Carbon Black Free pigments?
·         There is hardly a visual difference between a packaging colour with Carbon Black or with Carbon Black Free pigments
·         CBF packaging can still be classified as food grade
