ALVINESA PUBLISHES NEW CLINICAL STUDY ON HEALTHY AGING IN CLINICAL NUTRITION

30 Oct 2025

Spain, October 20, 2025 – Alvinesa Natural Ingredients announces the publication of a new clinical study on healthy aging in the prestigious journal Clinical Nutrition. The trial evaluated the supplementation of 15 mg/day of hydroxytyrosol (HT) for 16 weeks in individuals with overweight and prediabetes.

The clinical study showed statistically significant improvements in seven key biomarkers, confirming the powerful effect of Hytolive® hydroxytyrosol on metabolic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory health. Significant reductions were observed in oxidative stress markers —ox-LDL, protein carbonyls, and 8-OHdG — together with an increase in total antioxidant capacity (TAS) and glutathione peroxidase activity (GPX). In addition, a reduction in IL-6 levels was recorded, highlighting a strong anti-inflammatory effect.

Notably, the study also revealed a regulatory effect on GLP-1 levels. While the placebo group showed an increase in this hormone as a compensatory response to insulin resistance, the Hytolive®-supplemented group maintained stable levels — indicating more efficient glucose homeostasis and a potential protective effect against metabolic decline associated with aging.

This research expands the scientific evidence supporting the role of hydroxytyrosol in reducing oxidative, inflammatory, and metabolic stress, positioning it as a key natural ingredient for cardiovascular health and healthy aging.

With this new publication, Alvinesa reinforces its commitment to scientific research, sustainability, and innovation, developing functional ingredients through a circular economy and upcycling model, using co-products from the wine and olive oil industries.
