Company description

Centro Sperimentale del Latte (CSL) was founded in 1948 by Dr Leo Vesely to study and increase the value of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) and other food-grade microorganisms. CSL was the first Italian company to study and demonstrate the importance of LAB cultures in humans.

In 2013, CSL was aquired by the Verga family who also own Caglificio Clerici and Sacco. This newly established group aims to consolidate and explore joint competencies and skills to create a new centre of excellence in Lifescience, where innovative technologies will merge with the experience of over 100 years of history of studying and working with enzymes and cultures and microorganisms.

Centro Sperimentale del Latte, with Caglificio Clerici, Sacco and Kemikalia is now a part of Sacco System, the biotech network of international excellence in the food, nutraceutical and pharmaceutical industries.
