European supplement marketers now have tangible opportunities to develop new Antarctic krill-based products with EU authorised health claims according to RIMFROST. The company is introducing its ultra-high phospholipid SUBLIME krill extract to the European market.
“RIMFROST SUBLIME PL60 Antarctic krill extract is much more than an omega-3 ingredient” said RIMFROST NZ Managing Director John Cameron.. “It is a nature-made multi-nutrient formulation. At RIMFROST we are innovating to provide the full spectrum of krill’s benefits for our customers and consumers. As a result, we are the first and only provider of ultra-high 60% phospholipid extract of Antarctic krill in the health supplements space. This enables authorised EU health claims in convenient dosages..”With 60% phospholipid concentration, RIMFROST says it has been able to naturally concentrate the key nutrients, with no added extras. DHA/EPA are the prominent fatty acids found in the extract, but it is also said to contain significant levels of phospholipids, choline and astaxanthin. According to the company, one of the most tangible benefits of RIMFROST’s ultra-high phospholipid krill products is the substantial increase in choline and omega-3 content, enabling conveniently dosed applications with authorised EU health claims. Launched to customers in October 2015, RIMFROST says that the European market can now also benefit from the renewed value proposition of Antarctic krill. The traditional krill category has been stagnant for some time, the company claims, and with this launch RIMFROST is creating new growth avenues for krill by providing wider opportunities to connect its benefits with the demands of the modern consumer. “RIMFROST SUBLIME can be seen as a nutritional tool, ensuring that our bodies and minds have enough nutrients to perform optimally at all times,” said Cameron. “We can perfectly meet consumer demands for clean and pure, naturally sourced, sustainably produced solutions.” He went on to suggest that there are interesting applications for both personalised supplements to meet specific health needs, as well as more general formulations to maintain health and wellbeing. Of particular interest is how the different nutrients in RIMFROST’s Antarctic krill extract work together, RIMFROST says. They are all amphiphilic in their nature, which enables them to be effectively transported into every part of the body, even across the blood-brain barrier. Therefore, RIMFROST believes, this nature-made multi-nutrient formulation can enhance processes throughout the body and provide benefits in many interesting health areas e.g. management of homocysteine and inflammation levels, liver health, cardiovascular health and memory and brain function.
