Company description

Fermelanta is a Japanese biotechnology company developing next-generation natural ingredients through synthetic biology and precision fermentation. Our proprietary platform engineers microbial cell factories to produce high-value compounds that are traditionally sourced from plants, including carotenoids, polyphenols, flavonoids, terpenoids, and other functional ingredients for food, nutraceutical, cosmetic, and industrial applications. 

By replacing agricultural extraction with scalable fermentation processes, we enable a more reliable, sustainable, and cost-effective supply of natural ingredients while significantly reducing land use, water consumption, and greenhouse gas emissions. Our technology can rapidly develop and manufacture complex molecules that are difficult to obtain from conventional sources, helping customers overcome supply chain limitations and meet growing consumer demand for natural products.  

Founded in 2022 and built on more than 20 years of world-leading academic research, Fermelanta collaborates with leading pharmaceutical, chemical, food, and consumer goods companies to develop innovative ingredient solutions. We are actively seeking partners across Southeast Asia for joint development, commercialization, manufacturing, and distribution opportunities.
