Company description
The Flanders Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (ILVO) is an independent scientific research centre of the Flemish Government and is tasked with contributing to the sustainability of agriculture, fisheries, and the agri-food sector. Its primary focus is on Flanders, but its activities also extend to Belgium, Europe, and the rest of the world. ILVO’s research and related services cover a broad spectrum, ranging from fundamental and applied research in plant and animal sciences to agricultural engineering, marine and fisheries research, food sciences, social science and economic research. Through this research, ILVO aims to improve products and production methods, monitor and safeguard the quality and safety of end products, and optimise policy instruments with a view to developing policies for agriculture, rural areas, and fisheries. ILVO continuously informs policymakers, the relevant sectors, and the general public about its research findings.
