¡Hola España! Vitafoods Europe to relocate to Barcelona in 2025

26 Sep 2023

The world’s leading nutraceutical event, Vitafoods Europe, will move to Barcelona in 2025, allowing it to grow in line with market projections for the booming nutraceutical market. “As the industry evolves, so too does Vitafoods Europe,” says its organiser, Informa Markets.

Global B2B event organiser Informa Markets announced on 26 September that Vitafoods Europe, the leading exhibition trade show for the global nutraceutical and supplement industry will take place at Fira Barcelona. The event will return to Geneva, Switzerland one last time in 2024 on 14 to 16 May for what is set to be its biggest event to date.

The strategic decision to move to Barcelona will allow the event to grow in line with market potential, welcoming more visitors and exhibitors each year and creating more business opportunities for exhibitors and visitors. The global nutraceuticals market is projected to grow at a significant compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.3% by 2030, according to 2023 figures from Grand View Research.

Speaking on the move, Natasha Berrow, executive vice president for food at Informa Markets, said: “After over two and a half incredible decades in Geneva, we’re excited to announce that Barcelona will be the home of Vitafoods Europe from 2025. From humble beginnings in 1997 with just 100 exhibitors and a 2,500m2 show floor, Vitafoods Europe now welcomes tens of thousands of visitors every year to connect, learn and be inspired.

“The move is the result of the amazing growth we’ve had over the decades, and our new home will allow the event – and the companies that visit or exhibit – to continue to grow in line with the fast-paced nutraceutical market.”

Following months of research Spain emerged as the ideal location for Vitafoods Europe. It is a key test market for new nutraceutical product launches, according to research by Frost & Sullivan, and one of the top five countries in the European nutraceuticals market, which collectively make up 66% of the market.

Barcelona is also a highly accessible city, with around 40,000 available hotel rooms and nearly 3,000 flights departing from its airport each week, connecting to almost 200 airports worldwide, including those in North America, South America, Asia, and Africa. As a lively and attractive city to visit with a vibrant food culture, the city will further enhance the Vitafoods Europe experience for all attendees.

Berrow added: “Our goal, as always, is to serve the needs of the nutraceutical community, both now and for years to come. So, as the industry evolves, so too does Vitafoods Europe. Barcelona has been selected as our new home after extensive research and listening to both our exhibitors and visitors, carefully considering what matters most to them. What’s more, Barcelona is not only a key European market for nutraceuticals, but it also has the right mix of vibrant architecture, culture, and atmosphere to match the vivacious spirit of our community. And thanks to the robust infrastructure offered by both the city and the venue, Fira Barcelona, this is just the next step in a long and exciting future for Vitafoods Europe.”
