Nutmeg is found in Myristica fragrans plant which belongs to Myristicaceae family. Commonly, nutmeg is known as Jatiphala. Nutmeg tree attains 20 meter of height and is an evergreen tree. It has dense foliage and bears small flowers which give dull yellow appearance. Oil of Nutmeg is made from seeds as well as from husks also through Steam distillation method. It has sharp, musky and spicy aroma. Its oil is rather colorless or slight yellow touch. It smells and tastes like fresh nutmeg fruit and consists of borneol and eugenol as main constituents.
