THORMI IN A NUTSHELL
THORMI is an Estonian pea protein extrusion factory, unique in the Nordic and Baltic region. We develop and manufacture meat-equivalent next-gen clean label INGREDIENTS – TVP and HME, widely used by the food industry for plant-based and hybrid applications. We also produce RTC and RTE plant-based FOOD PRODUCTS for HoReCa and retail under THORMI’s own brand and as white-/private-label products.

OUR RTC & RTE PORTFOLIO 
Plant-based READY-TO-COOK and READY-TO-EAT food products made from our TVP and HME for both HoReCa and retail markets (also white-/private-label), such as shredded and pulled products, grill and BBQ products, sauces, burger patties, mince-style products, pâtés, sausages, pizza toppings, wrap, taco, burrito and pastry fillings, components for microwaveable ready meals, cold and warm salad components, and a wide range of tailored products developed to meet individual customer requirements.

AWARDS
Our HME-based "Shredded Chickenless in Coconut-Curry Sauce" won the GULFOOD Innovation Award 2025 in Dubai.
Our HME-based Chickenless was selected as Estonia’s Best Plant-Based Product of 2026.
HME 3.0 won the Innovation Award at FFCR Helsinki 2026.

SCIENCE-DRIVEN INNOVATION
We collaborate continuously with the scientists of TFTAK (www.tftak.eu), an internationally recognised research and development centre, to create smarter, more sustainable next-generation plant protein ingredients and breakthrough solutions for tomorrow's food industry.

FOR THE INSTITUTIONAL FOOD SERVICE SECTOR
Our HME is currently used as a core ingredient in retort-based plant-based ready meals developed by a major Estonian food manufacturer for military applications, with these solutions being offered to several armed forces across Europe. In addition, we have been supplying plant-based food products to the Estonian Defence Forces for a number of years.
We have also developed a new range of elderly- and child-friendly sauces specifically tailored to the needs of the care sector, schools and public food service.

FOR HAPPIER PEOPLE, ANIMALS AND THE PLANET
We use European pea protein produced exclusively from peas grown within the European Union, primarily in France, as well as in Sweden, Finland and the Baltic countries, where pea cultivation has a long agricultural heritage.
Peas naturally fix nitrogen in the soil, helping to reduce the need for fertilisers and supporting more sustainable farming practices. Peas also play an important role in crop rotation systems, contributing to more resilient agricultural production. This allows us to offer a responsible and competitive alternative to conventional protein sources.
