Acatris to be acquired by Caldic

Caldic has reached an agreement to acquire Acatris, a supplier of ingredients, services and solutions to the food processing industry. The completion of this agreement underlines Caldic’s vision to be a full-service and customer-focused distributor in food, the company said.

Acatris is located in Bunschoten, the Netherlands and Mechelen, Belgium. With this acquisition, Caldic believes it strengthens its range of single ingredients and stabilizer systems. In addition, Acatris’ facilities are said to enrich the custom manufacturing and processing services Caldic offers, such as product development, blending, grinding, repacking and sieving of products.

Caldic Ingredients Benelux currently offers complete and tailored services from its laboratories and test kitchens in Oudewater, the Netherlands and Hemiksem, Belgium. Both companies will continue to be run from their existing offices, warehouses and production sites, ensuring continuity in the key relationships with suppliers and customers.

“The Acatris service portfolio and their strong established partnerships in these markets will give us a much stronger presence within the Benelux,” said Paul Veth, Director Ingredients Europe at Caldic.

Olav van Caldenborgh, Caldic’s CEO, said: “Recently Caldic Belgium and Caldic Ingredients in the Netherlands joined forces by forming one Benelux team to guarantee an even better service to customers and a stronger route to market for suppliers. The addition of the tailored and innovative Acatris solutions perfectly aligns with this. It strengthens our position in the market and I’m convinced that both our customers and suppliers will benefit from it.”

Bert Piëst, CEO at Acatris, said: “The customer-centric vision of Caldic perfectly matches the Acatris identity and gives Acatris the opportunity to geographically expand its own ingredient blends via the international Caldic distribution channels.” Eric van de Hoek, COO at Acatris adds: “By joining forces we are creating a very solid base with thorough product application knowledge and a fully dedicated team to the Food and Nutritional industry. I’m very confident in the future success and growth of our business under Caldic’s flag.”
