Arla Foods is to expand its protein range with the launch of Arla Protein Milk in a move that the company says sees it continue to innovate in the dairy sector through increasing protein content via everyday dairy products.

Hitting shelves today, the fresh milk delivers 20g of protein per serving that contributes to the growth and maintenance of muscle mass. Made with simple, natural ingredients, the milk is said to be 30% higher in protein than standard skimmed milk plus fat free so is an effective way to increase protein intake.

The move comes as the protein trend begins to move further into the everyday mass market, Arla says, with 45% of Brits now recognising that it’s important to increase protein intake when exercising and 28% agreeing that products with added protein are a good alternative to eating foods naturally high in protein, according to a Mintel report.

“We all know that protein is important in a healthy diet and especially for those that are exercising regularly,” said Steph Barker, brand manager for Arla Protein. “Arla’s new Protein Milk is an easy way to incorporate the nutrient into everyday life to optimise the workout regime. For gym goers and exercise lovers, it’s the perfect way to make a healthy choice without sacrificing on taste.”

The launch of Arla Protein Milk joins other products in the Arla Protein range including Arla Protein Yogurt, Arla Protein Milkshakes, Cottage Cheese and Protein Pouches for on the go. The company says that the Protein range is a hugely successful brand for Arla Foods, with the dairy cooperative seeing a 72% year on year growth in retail sales value.
