October 12, 2023 – Saskatoon, Canada and Kroppenstedt, Germany – Bioriginal Food & Science Corp. (“Bioriginal”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Cooke Inc. and global leader in the food and nutraceutical industries, has expanded into Germany with the acquisition of Pflanzenölmühle Kroppenstedt GmbH operating as Kroppenstedter Ölmühle, a century-old, family-owned mill that specializes in the pressing of plant-based oil products from conventional and organic sources.
“We are so pleased to welcome Kroppenstedter Ölmühle’s 35 employees to Bioriginal. Our companies have a shared passion for innovation, a commitment to high production standards and top-quality products,” says Shannon Sears, President of Bioriginal from Germany, where he joined Managing Director Eike Döpelheuer to make the announcement. Döpelheuer will continue in his role under the new structure, reporting to Sears.
Established in 1922 in Kroppenstedt, Germany, Kroppenstedter Ölmühle has a long tradition of oil pressing for clients in the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. The company specializes in processing of oilseeds from conventional and organic cultivation for the development and production of vegetable oils, press cakes, oil cake flour, and the refining of vegetable oils.

Kroppenstedter Ölmühle’s facilities include three plants at two sites with different capacities for receiving of seeds, bulk storage, pressing, milling, oil refining and logistics. An internal laboratory where new technologies for processing oil seeds are developed rounds out the company’s capabilities.
The terms of the transactions have not been disclosed as the companies are privately owned.
