BIORIGINAL FOOD & SCIENCE CORP HAS COMPLETED TWO SIGNIFICANT ACQUISITIONS THAT WILL EXPAND THE COMPANY’S GLOBAL FOOTPRINT IN THE EU AND ASIA.

September 7, 2023 – Saskatoon, SK – Bioriginal Food & Science Corp (“Bioriginal”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Cooke Inc. and leader in the food and nutraceutical industries, has completed two significant acquisitions that will expand the company’s global footprint in the EU and Asia.

The Fatory is a Dutch producer of fat and oil-based pet supplements and treats. The Fatory was founded in 1996 with a production facility in Bodegraven, The Netherlands. The Fatory is the leading supplier of sheep fat treats & salmon oil for dogs in the Benelux and German markets and under Bioriginal’s ownership is rapidly expanding to serve all of Europe.

Cana Corporation is a distributor of natural health ingredients and products in the Asia Pacific region, based in Yokohama, Japan. Established in 2006, Cana sources and imports products globally to serve customers in the dietary supplement and functional food and beverage industries. Cana has a long-standing business relationship with Bioriginal, importing various nutritional products from Canada including coconut oil, flax seed and borage oil, and now that the acquisition is complete, has become Bioriginal Asia.

“We made these strategic acquisitions to support Bioriginal’s growth plans and increasing market demands. These are in line with Bioriginal’s intention to increase our product range, production capacity, and direct sales capabilities on a global scale. We’re excited to be expanding our operations on two continents, and for the unique growth opportunities we see at The Fatory and Bioriginal Asia,” says Shannon Sears, President of Bioriginal.

Existing senior management on both companies will remain in place, with Hiro Takagi now Managing Director of Bioriginal Asia and Bjorn de Bruijn Managing Director of The Fatory, both reporting to Shannon Sears. The acquisitions were completed in 2023. The terms of the transactions have not been disclosed as the companies are privately owned.
