Bunge Loders Croklaan expands organic portfolio17 Feb 2021
Oils and fats solutions specialist, Bunge Loders Croklaan, is growing its organic portfolio in Europe.
The company is set to offer a range of organic oils and fats, including sunflower, shea and palm and widen its network of organic farmers.
As consumers increasingly demand more sustainable products, food brands are endeavouring to expand their range of organic produce. According to Mintel, last year in Europe one in five new food products were organic, compared to one in eight globally. Furthermore, as part of the Green Deal “Farm to Fork” strategy, the European Commission has set a target of having 25% of all farmland devoted to organic agriculture by 2030.
Director of Product Management EMEA for Bunge Loders Croklaan, Marcel Henneman said, “Food companies increasingly view ‘organic’ as an expression of transparency and being closer to nature — messages that strongly resonate among the growing community of conscious consumers”.
“To achieve an ‘organic’ label status, food manufacturers are required not only to ensure the ingredients in their products are sourced organically, but also that the manufacturing processes employed are certified organic”.
