Enzymotec has announced EnzySport, which is produced using Enzymotec's proprietary Sharp PS, which contains PS extracted from soy. The company says that the formulation has been optimised to deliver benefits to athletes taking part in strenuous sporting activities.Enzyomtec is exhibiting at the forthcoming Food Ingredients Europe exhibition in Paris (1-3 December 2015).PS has, says Enzymotec, previously been shown in clinical trials to increase the time it takes athletes to become exhausted, to cut recovery times and to reduce muscle soreness. In one study it was found that cyclists using PS could ride for 30% longer before reaching exhaustion, compared with those taking a placebo.In another study, participants simulated the playing of soccer by undertaking intermittent running exercises. It was found that general soreness levels recorded after exercise were 50% higher in the placebo group, compared with the group taking PS. In all studies, PS has been shown to be safe with no side effects noted in the trial participants."We know that even the smallest margins make a tangible difference in sport,” said Dr Ariel Katz, President & CEO of Enzymotec. “With EnzySport, however, athletes can experience big benefits that will enable them to make the most of their training sessions and perform at their highest level in competitive events.
