Expressions Aromatiques continues its industrial development with a new extruding equipment

Established in the Grasse region since 1999, Expressions Aromatiques is specialized in the creation, development, production and marketing of flavours for the food and beverage industry. We offer a wide range of natural and synthetic flavours, available in liquid, emulsion, powder and spray dried form.

Over the past few years, Expressions Aromatiques has focused on infrastructure development and industrial equipment in order to boost future growth. It started in 2014 with an overall investment of 6M€, which enabled a 3 000 m² extension of the production area, new weighing stations, a new positive cold room and additional warehousing.

Since then, Expressions Aromatiques has also invested in two new GEA spray dryers: a pilot spray dryer for testing and for sampling, as well as a MSD™ spray dryer, to cope with the increasing demand for spray dried flavours.

For the last four years, our R&D department through rigorous research and analysis has permitted to extend the shelf life of spray dried flavours to 24 months. This new spray drying tower is ST2 classified (explosion hazard control), hence it is possible to produce more intense and more concentrated spray dried flavours.

The final applications are numerous and diversified: premixes for bakery, biscuits and pastry; instant powder drinks; culinary aids and condiments; dietary supplements, health foods and nutritional products…

Recently, a 2M€ investment was made in a new extrusion system, as part of our project on flavours encapsulated by extrusion. It concerns a pilot device as well as an industrial extruder. This new CLEXTRAL equipment will be implemented, with the help of an engineer recruited specifically for this project, by the end of the second semester 2017. The whole project was carried out in partnership with the CEMEF laboratory (Centre of Material Forming) which is a part of the research centre & engineering school Mines ParisTech, for the development of a new range of extruded flavours. An international patent was registered in 2014.

To support our current industrial expansion, our highly experienced R&D team is dedicated to the creation of innovative and tailor-made flavouring solutions. Because they work in close collaboration with the leading companies in ingredients and raw materials, our R&D engineers have acquired indepth knowledge of new market products. Apart from being open-minded, our flavourists demonstrate high levels of creativity, hence offering optimal responses to each and every technical and organoleptic requests.
