Kräuter Mix opens new warehouse

German family-run business Kräuter Mix, a producer of culinary herbs, dried vegetables, spices, herbal and fruit teas, has opened new, €3 million, 5,000 square metre storage facilities at its logistics centre in Wiesentheid.

German family-run business Kräuter Mix, a producer of culinary herbs, dried vegetables, spices, herbal and fruit teas, has opened new storage facilities at its logistics centre in Wiesentheid. The project took nine months from the investment decision through to the opening of the warehouse, at a cost of €3 million.

The construction of a third warehouse follows the acquisition of two warehouses, previously owned by Knauf, in 2005 and the building of two additional warehouses in 2009, Kräuter Mix. The company said that strong growth in volume and sales in 2015 and well-filled order books for 2016 served as a basis for making this investment decision. In doing so, Kräuter Mix says it has succeeded in centralising its storage facilities in Wiesentheid so as to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and increase efficiency as far as the transportation of goods is concerned.

The new logistics area comprises 5,000 square metres, as large as a football pitch. The logistics centre at Wiesentheid now covers 23,500 square metres and provides space for 44,000 pallets, an increase of 30 percent.

Kräuter Mix has 19,000 plant products in stock, 10,000 of them in Wiesentheid.

“We supply our products around the globe,” said managing director Christoph Mix. “Nevertheless, by enlarging our logistics centre we are investing in our location, because we, as a sustainably growing traditional company, feel deeply rooted in the region.”

Kräuter Mix, with 310 employees, says that 2015 has been the most successful year ever in the company’s nearly 100-year-old history. With a growth rate of 11%, sales of €92.5 million have been generated for the first time.
