The certification comes at a time when the nutraceutical industry faces growing scrutiny. Recent reports have exposed serious safety concerns, with nearly 40% of supplements tested in 2023 either failing to meet label claims or containing harmful contaminants. These issues have created a sense of mistrust among consumers and raised concerns about industry accountability. For example, a recent case involving UK brand Nutrition Ignition has revealed that the company’s magnesium glycinate gummies intended for children aged four to older contained 1,5-1,7 mg of melatonin, which was not disclosed on the product label. Another 2025 investigation by Niagein Bioscience highlighted that only 24% of the 21 best-selling NAD+ supplements on Amazon contained the advertised amount of NAD+, with 11 of analyzed products showing no detectable NAD+ at all.
“Several factors are contributing to the quality challenges in the supplement industry, economic pressure being among the most prominent ones,“ explained PharmaLinea’s Technical Director, Denis Đalapa. “For certain raw materials, where there’s a large number of suppliers on the market, cost optimization often comes at the expense of quality. The biggest quality issue we’re encountering during our production process is with plant extracts, which are often exposed to contamination. In some markets, low environmental and regulatory awareness can worsen the issue of substandard production environment, allowing contaminants to enter the supply chain. Additional factors include lack of high-quality raw materials and limited access to advanced testing technologies.“
In response to these industry-wide concerns, PharmaLinea’s manufacturing facility has adopted a comprehensive quality control approach and implemented several rigorous testing protocols throughout the production cycle, including:
“THE GOOD PILL Co.’s mission aligns closely with ours: ensuring consumers have access to safe, efficient, science-backed supplements,“ commented PharmaLinea’s Marketing Director, Matevž Ambrožič. “This certification validates what we already implement internally and allows us to contribute to setting higher industry benchmarks for transparency and trust.“
THE GOOD PILL Co. certification was established to bring accountability and clarity to the supplement industry. The program aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and brings together certified industry players who share a commitment to ingredient integrity, product transparency, and a responsible approach to nutritional health.
“Through our collaboration, we are dedicated to improving industry standards and strengthening consumer trust by ensuring products are produced with a shared commitment to safety and quality, “ added THE GOOD PILL Co.’s Managing Director, David Hjalmarsson. “We are very proud of this partnership with PharmaLinea.“
