Scientific literature has confirmed the positive effects of nucleotides in reducing inflammation. Building on this background, Prosol commissioned a new in vitro study, published in the Journal of Food Science and Nutrition Research, to investigate the effects of dietary nucleotides on muscle cell function.
The study evaluated both a blend of pure nucleotides (RiboCARE®) and a yeast extract rich in nucleotides (RiboDIET®), focusing on energy metabolism and muscle contractility.
Prosol ingredients RiboDIET® and RiboCARE® MIX were submitted to the test. RiboDIET® is a yeast extract standardised in free nucleotides (>40%) and is also a source of macro and micronutrients naturally occurring in yeast cells, such as amino acids, minerals, and group B vitamins. RiboCARE® MIX is a blend of pure nucleotides (20% each: AMP, CMP, GMP, UMP, and IMP).
All mixtures were used without solvents and were directly added to the medium to stimulate the cells at concentrations equivalent to human dosages found in baby milk.

The study demonstrated, for the first time, a direct effect of nucleotides on energy metabolism and calcium/magnesium movements during in vitro exercise simulations. These findings provide valuable insights into supporting muscle cells during exercise and ageing.
Supplementary experiments investigated the effects of the same nucleotides under strict exercise conditions to determine their optimal use as food supplements for sustaining physical activity and limiting fatigue.
The latest studies advocate for new nutritional solutions using food supplements containing nucleotides to sustain physical exercise and limit its side effects. Nucleotides are natural compounds with high compliance for muscle cells, as they are involved in numerous functions.
