Seagreens of Norway™ is a quality label representing Norwegian cultivated and wild-harvested seaweed supplied by members of the Norwegian Seaweed Cluster. The initiative promotes high production standards, full traceability, responsible sourcing, and premium-quality seaweed ingredients from Norway's clean, cold coastal waters.

Seagreens of Norway™ connects international buyers with multiple Norwegian seaweed producers through one quality label and supplier network. Our members supply seaweed ingredients for food manufacturers, ingredient companies, product developers and research partners, providing access to a growing portfolio of sustainably produced seaweed products and ingredients.

Available species include sugar kelp (Saccharina latissima) and winged kelp (Alaria esculenta), supplied in fresh, frozen and dried formats, including flakes and powders. Organic-certified products are available from selected suppliers.

In addition to raw materials and ingredients, member companies offer a range of value-added products, including seaweed seasonings, seaweed salts, umami ingredients, dried seaweed flakes and powders, pesto, hummus, savoury spreads and other seaweed-based food products.

Norwegian seaweed offers natural umami, minerals and fibre, making it suitable for a wide range of food applications. Current uses include flavour enhancement and salt reduction, seasonings and spice blends, soups and sauces, savoury spreads, plant-based foods, meat alternatives and clean-label product development.

Seaweed marketed under the Seagreens of Norway™ label is cultivated or harvested in Norwegian waters and produced according to principles of responsible sourcing and full traceability to origin. Through processing and stabilization, products can be supplied year-round to support industrial food production, ingredient development and innovation across the food sector.
