Stimulating Agents

Xanthine is a colorless, crystalline solid that forms as an intermediate in the degradation of purine nucleotides to uric acid. It has many important derivatives, including caffeine. Caffeine is produced by artificial synthesis and has a stimulating effect on the central nervous system. In particular, it leads in to an increase in concentration and alertness, as well as to a reduction in fatigue.
